General Rules
- All exhibits,
with the exception of Floral Art shall be grown or produced by the
exhibitor, and to have been their property for the previous 3 months.
- No smoking nor
naked flames allowed in the marquees, candles in honey classes to be supervised
at all times whilst lighted.
- Pedestrians have
the right of way at all times over vehicles.
- All exhibits
shall be exhibited and judged in accordance with the appropriate Societys
rules, and in all other horticultural matters in accordance with the
R.H.S. rules.
- Exhibitors are
requested to name exhibits with regard to variety or cultivar where
ever possible; in cases of close competition correct naming may be
taken into consideration.
- Entries along
with the correct entry fee must reach the Section Secretaries by noon
of Friday July 4th. - Floral Art entries by Friday June 13th. - no
late entries can be accepted. Cheques, etc., should be made payable
to "Lakeland Rose Show Ltd.". Please do not send coins in the
post. Details of the number of exhibits allowed per class are detailed
in the appropriate section of the schedule of classes.
- Exhibition labels
can be collected from the Section Secretary at the times for staging.
These to be placed by the side of the exhibit. Vehicle passes must
show the exhibitors name and section of entry and must be displayed
in the front screen of your vehicle. Any vehicle causing an obstruction
must be moved on request. All vehicles must be removed from the show
area by 9 a.m. All boxes, bowls, vases, baskets and palettes are provided
by the society but we regret we are unable to provide "Oasis"
for staging..
- The marquee will
be open for staging at 6.30p.m. on Friday evening until 07.30 am.
on Saturday at which time the marquee will be cleared for judging
to commence at 8.00 am. prompt. No unauthorised person to remain during
judging. Exhibitors in Floral Art classes may stage between 12noon.
on Friday and 7.00 am. on Saturday. ( Note check times with section
secretary )
- The judge's decision
shall be final in question of merit. The committee reserves to itself
the decisions in all other matters.
- All protests
must be in writing and presented to the Section Secretary before 2.30p.m.
on Saturday together with a deposit of £5: the deposit will be refunded
if the protest is upheld.
- All trophies
remain the property of the society, and must be returned to the Trophy
Secretary by June 1st. prior to the show cleaned and in good condition.
- All exhibits,
personal properties etc., shall be at the risk of the exhibitor. The
Society shall not be liable for any loss or damage, how so ever caused.
Should the show for any reason not be held, no exhibitor nor any other
person shall have any claim against the Society.
- Exhibitors shall,
if requested, permit any person(s) as may be appointed by the Society
for that purpose, to view their gardens, either prior to or after
the show.
- Where a trophy
is decided by points a table of points laid down by the appropriate
"Parent" society (if available) shall be used, or points
of: 1st. Prize - 4 points, 2nd. Prize - 2 points, 3rd. Prize - 1 point.
- Prize Money will
be paid out by the Section Secretary, or his representative.
- The show normally
closes at 5p.m. on Sunday, when exhibitors may collect exhibits. No
exhibit is to be removed before the close of the show.
